I personally didn’t know anyone who lost their life on 9-11. But as a romance writer, many times we find nameless faces for our heroes as we create a fictional character. I used a face like this. The face of a Fire Fighter.
I didn’t know anything about him. He was on a calendar, his picture on the Internet, and he was extremely handsome. In October of 2001, a friend who had read my book and seen my hero’s picture, brought a copy of PEOPLE Magazine to me. There on the cover was “Logan.”
My fictional hero was more than fictional. He was a part of the rescue teams in NYC. I am still touched and in awe of ALL the 9-11 heroes and those who have sacrificed themselves in the line of duty or making our world a safer place.
From the depths of my heart…THANK YOU.
